Charging Batteries

For un-electrified households, the most important energy service required is lighting. PAMOJA has come up with a mobile mini-grid – a hybrid battery bank, which gets charged by the power plant & solar. The business is run by women micro-entrepreneurs, who rent out lanterns and charge cell-phones.

Why Not Grid?

Most off-grid villagers & first-time users use electricity primarily for lighting. Providing electricity only for lighting by setting up a mini-grid is both expensive & inefficient. Also, we are limited by the number of households we can connect, as the reach of the mini-grid is limited. The reach of the mini-grid can be extended, through this Charging Battery business.
